We are so excited to present The Wizard of Oz, a classic, American musical fantasy that is 87 years old this year. This story is timeless and has become a favorite childhood memory throughout so many generations. As we begin our story in Kansas we meet a sweet, naive Dorothy who lives with her Uncle Henry and Aunt Em on a farm. After a tornado sweeps through the Kansas plains, Dorothy finds herself in a very unknown, different, but magical world. A world of her own imagination, and in Color!! She comes across many unusual charac- ters in this magical world who introduce her to new stories, new adventures, and new experiences. Each friend accompanies/guides her along the "Yellow Brick Road" in her pursuit of finding her way back home. And as they travel together on this Yellow Brick Road she in turn helps them recognize they already have the wisdom, the heart, and the courage they are seeking. Eventually she returns home to realize she too has all that she has ever needed. A home, a family, friends, support and hope! The world we live in today can feel dark and uncertain for so many. But there is color, magic and hope everywhere. We just have to stop to look for it. I love the messages that each of Dorothy's friends bring to light. As we follow our own “Yellow Brick Road” of life, what special friends have we collected along the way that have changed our lives "For Good" (wink wink)? Who has been a friend, an exam- ple, your strength, supporter, mentor, companion? Who has changed or saved your life in one way or another? My parents gave me a strong foundation to build my own confidence and moral beliefs on. My husband has literally saved my life over and over again in so many ways. And my 4 beautiful children help me keep going and striving to do my best every day. I couldn't make it through this life without them. I'm so thankful. As I do with all my shows, I want to dedicate this one to my dear baby brother, David. He lost his battle to mental illness in March 2020. He reminds me of all 3 of Dorothy's friends. As he fought his earthly battle he was brave and fearless like the Lion. He researched and studied all the latest technology that would help him fight against his daily struggles. He advocated daily for better mental health services, affordable treatments, and acceptance. He sought and shared wisdom like the Scarecrow. My brother had a love for life and his family. He gave the best hugs. I know he dreamed of living a "normal, happy" life, free of his depression. His heart was always in the right place (Tinman) and I will continue to share his legacy forever so that I may help and advocate for others who are suffering in silence. I hope this show empowers you to find more color and hope in your life. Allow the right people to support your journey along your Yellow Brick Road.
