A modern take on The Emperor’s New Clothes, The Empress’s New Phone follows a woman who cares deeply but gets stopped by the screen instead of being invited to connect more deeply because of it. Written and directed by Madeline Thatcher (story developed with Spencer Hohl), this Parker Theatre original was created in the late stages of the COVID-19 pandemic as a comic look at social media, virtual life, and live connection.
